CQR Dentures FAQs

  • CQR dentures are designed for superior comfort and fit. Unlike traditional dentures, they utilise advanced materials and techniques to provide a more natural look and feel. High Street Dental Care was the first practice in the UK to offer CQR, and your dentures are shaped around your individual bite here in Melton Mowbray.

  • Most people settle in within a few weeks. Because CQR dentures are designed around the way your jaw moves and are fitted precisely, the adjustment period is often shorter and more comfortable than it is with conventional dentures. Everyone is slightly different, so Kevin, our clinical denture technician, will talk you through what to expect and make any fine adjustments you need along the way.

  • CQR dentures should restore your ability to enjoy a wide variety of foods. Their secure fit allows for improved chewing efficiency. We usually suggest starting with softer foods for the first few days and building up as your confidence grows. As with any denture, results vary from person to person depending on your gums, your jaw and how well the fit is maintained over time.

  • There can be a short adjustment period, which is completely normal with any new denture. For the first few days, you might find certain sounds feel different, or that you produce a little more saliva while your mouth gets used to the appliance. Reading aloud at home for a few minutes a day is a simple way to speed that up. If anything still feels off after a couple of weeks, let us know, and we will check the fit.

  • With good care and regular check-ups, CQR dentures can last for several years. How long yours last will depend on everyday things like how you clean them, whether you remove them at night as advised, and the natural changes in your gums and jawbone that gradually alter the shape of your mouth. Cleaning them daily, storing them properly and keeping up with your appointments all help you get the most from them. We will keep an eye on the fit at each visit and let you know when a refresh is worth considering.

  • CQR is a full denture system, so it suits people who are replacing a complete set of upper or lower teeth, or who already wear conventional dentures and want a more comfortable, stable alternative.
