Case Study for Immediate Implants

An immediate dental implant is a dental implant that is placed in the jawbone immediately after a dental tooth  extraction. It is usually placed at the same visit as the dental extraction but it can be done within two weeks after the dental tooth extraction and still be considered an immediate dental implant.

Implant Crown Case Studies

A single implant replaces the tooth root and builds a strong foundation for the dental crown. The surface material of the dental
implant can maintain existing jaw bone levels and prevent any further bone loss. Neighbouring teeth are kept intact, as the replacement tooth is directly connected to the implant.

Information On Replacing Missing Teeth and Dental Implants

What Is All-On-4 Dental Implant Treatment?

The loss of a tooth can happen at any point in our lives. It can affect your quality of life and natural appearance.

When a tooth is removed, the bone in our jaw can start to disappear and the surrounding teeth can drift or over-erupt. This can make replacing teeth much more complicated if left for a long period of time.

A dental implant not only helps to maintain your bone, it can also restore the function of your tooth within your smile.

How can an Implant Benefit me?

Placing an implant can help maintain the natural volume of bone in your jaw, which in turn helps to maintain the shape of your face. By avoiding other methods of filling spaces, an implant will preserve your existing teeth. A dental bridge involves cutting away healthy tooth tissue to make room for material to support the missing tooth. By utilising the bone, the implant will therefore avoid any unnecessary damage to your teeth. Replacing missing teeth with dental implants will maintain the health of your mouth and restore your smile. Giving your smile back can improve your confidence and let you get back to being you!

What are the side effects of the surgery?

Common side effects include swelling, bruising and tenderness but this is usually less than what is experienced during having a tooth removed. This will vary from patient to patient and is dependent upon your procedure. The symptoms can usually be managed with pain relief and cold packs.

How long do they last?

In a healthy mouth with healthy bone, implant fixtures (the metal part) should last as long as natural teeth – they do need caring for as natural teeth do. The crowns or bridges supported by the implants can last a decade or more but may wear and need replacing. Implants have a 96-97% success rate depending on a person's smoking history and oral hygiene. You will be informed if your implant dentist feels there may be factors that can improve your chances of success.

Is there anything you can do to improve the chance of success?

Overall hygiene is essential for the success of any treatment and long-term success of your teeth, crowns, bridges and implants. Stopping smoking will improve the success rate by 5-10%.

How long will my treatment take?

This varies from patient to patient. Sometimes an implant can be placed with a temporary crown or bridge on the same day. More complex treatment may take 9-12 months.

Would I be left with a gap?

Temporary solutions are usually available. This can be discussed with your implant dentist.

What are the alternatives?

Removable dentures and bridges can also provide replacements for missing teeth.
