With Dental Implants you’ll able to improve your appearance and speech. A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. Initially, the dentist places the implant into the jawbone. After a period of 3-6 months, depending upon certain factors, the dentist taps a post or abutment into the implant. The post projects through the gum and provides the support for a porcelain crown or removable denture. In the past, dentists would replace missing teeth with crowns or fixed bridges. Bridges require healthy teeth to be cut down. Dentists can replace one tooth or multiple teeth with dental implants. Usually the surgery takes less than an hour and you may return to work or home the same day with minimal pain or discomfort.
We provide great support for dentures too. Click here if you need more information on our CQR Dentures.
A dental implant is a root device, usually made of titanium, used in dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth to replace missing teeth. All dental implants placed today are root-form endosseous implants, they appear similar to an actual tooth root and are placed within the bone. The bone of the jaw accepts and osseointegrates with the titanium post. Osseointegration refers to the fusion of the implant surface with the surrounding bone. Prior to the advent of root-form endosseous implants, most were either blade endosseous, in that the shape of the metal piece placed within the bone resembled a flat blade, or subperiosteal, in which a framework was constructed to lie upon and was attached with screws to the exposed bone of the jaws. Dental implants can be used to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges or dentures.
Implant should be placed without affecting the other teeth. Depending on oral hygiene conditions you will be advised how long the surgery will take and cost.
